Many Parents Need to Find a Nanny - How to Be the One They Find

Are you a childminder with no child to mind?  It can be a very competitive business.  There are many things that you can do to increase your chances of finding fulfilling and enjoyable employment.  First, prepare yourself for the all-important interview.  Be ready to explain why you chose to be a nanny, au-pair, childminder or babysitter.  Be ready to give examples of difficult situations you’ve had on the job and how you dealt with them.  Be ready to explain your personal techniques and talents for dealing with children of various ages.

Second, make yourself stand out and be more desirable by listing any additional skills you may have such as a second language or artistic or musical skills.  Don’t forget, there are many parents trying to find a nanny, but also many nannies looking for work.  Third, get yourself out there.  Advertise in as many places as you can think of: in newspapers, online, and with nanny agencies such as Nannywage Ltd.  These agencies are especially helpful to connect you with many possible employers.  Additionally they can also often help you to work out contracts and other benefits so you are getting the most from your job.  Fourth, acquire new skills.  If you are not already certified in CPR or First Aid consider getting certified as it lends credibility to your talents and concern for the safety of the children you are caring for.  No matter what, keep trying and learning, stay positive and you will find the perfect job.
